Bermuda Beauties

I lived in Bermuda when I was a little girl. It's a novelty now, telling people, and remembering what little I can about the place. Have you ever been there? Either way, I'd like to take you on a picture-book-style tour...

First, meet the highly fashionable, non-violent police officers:

They keep an eye on all the island's commuters:

While one is out cruising, one must be sure to pickup some bug spray to deal with the following intruders:

Flying cockroaches

and tarantulas

But don't worry. These guys get into the house too, and they eat the other guys. They are your friends:

Oh, and be sure to save some leftovers for the locals. They're crazy for them, and will kiss your toes as a way of thanks.

What's the most interesting place you've lived or visited?

We traveled in Russia, Estonia and Latvia with my daughter and SIL. I would go back in a heartbeat. Old town, Tallin, Estonia is straight out of a Disney movie.

I've never been to the Bermuda. I hear it's just beautiful.

I would say that Paris was the most interesting place that I've visited. It's just crawling with history...you can feel history.

Notre Dame is just beautiful. The building is just amazing.

I stood where Marie Antoinette (and thousands of others) got her head chopped off in the Place de la Concorde. (Place de la Revolution) It gave me the chills.

Wow! That would be so cool (except for the tarantulas and cockroaches...ew).

I feel the bug love. They're almost as epic here in Florida.

Never been to Bermuda, but we did live in NYC--with the cheapest airfare to Bermuda. I'd have to say that's the most interesting place I've lived. And would I go back? That's a mixed bag. Maybe?

Now, if only bug spray would really work on giant cockroaches and tarantulas, lol! I would say living in China was pretty exciting (especially because I didn't speak the language), but the biggest spiders I ever saw were when we visited Thailand. :) I'd love to go to Bermuda someday!

Oooh. This recalls the little lizards (harmless) on our doors and the cockroaches we encountered the year we lived in Laie. I

I love the photos, especially the first one: the highly fashionable police officers. Delightful!

Thanks, Michelle, for stopping by and commenting on my ghost writing post. And have a great weekend, Conference weekend, my favorite.

Hi Michelle I've never been to the Caribbean .. and would love to go - aren't Bermuda shorts 'great' .. we now have them in so many variations!! In fact we're in them today - it's so warm in Old Blighty.

Moving to South Africa and touring around .. interesting times .. and I'm still hooked into that red earth ..

Cheers Hilary

Love the pictures. I've been to the Bahamas and I was enchanted. I have a special place in my heart for Yosemite National Park.

Fantastic photos. What a great place to grow up! I think the most interesting place I lived was a small town in southern Poland, where I taught for almost a year.

The tarantula... *shudders* Other than the bugs, it sounds awesome. So nice to learn more about you!

Great photos! It's hard to pick just one interesting place - everywhere I've travelled has been so amazing! So I'll just pick Costa Rica because of its frogs. Very very cool frogs. Went on a frog hunt one night and saw seven different species.

I had to come follow you after reading your quote on Maeve's blog. The most interesting place I've lived is the Phillipines. Not such a great place to visit, let alone live there. My husband was a new officer in the AF on a remote duty assignment, and I tagged along with our 6-month-old son. The women wouldn't leave him alone. He hated getting his fair skin pinched and not being able to walk (once he learned) without getting scooped up and carried. The PI was very poor, but the reefs were enchanting to dive, and the people very friendly where we were. Okay, I enjoyed my time there, but I don't miss those cold showers & I wanted to kiss the ground when we got home.

I can't stop looking at the picture of the flying cockroach! Scary! Bermuda sounds lovely and it must have been awesome to live there (apart from the cockroach... which I'm still staring at! lol)
