This month I'm highlighting author Sharon Creech, who has written many books, including
Chasing Redbird,
Walk Two Moons, and
Ruby Holler. I enjoyed these so much that I tried
Love That Dog, only to discover it is a story told in poetry form. I don't enjoy poetry very often, and almost returned it to the library before I even started - but I thought I'd give it a chance, and then I enjoyed it enough to get part two,
Hate That Cat. Fancy that, me reading an entire book of poetry. I'm proud of myself, even if it is geared toward middle grade kids. Actually, I think I'm a kid at heart, how about you?

I've never read a book in poetry form. Sounds like an interesting idea, though. Maybe I'll check it out now.

Yes, total kid at heart! ;) I used to really like poetry when I was a kid/teenager (I wrote a LOT of bad poems in my high school days) but I haven't read any in a while. I've never heard of Sharon Creech, I might check her out!

Poetry draws me in...when I can convince myself to read it. Then I always wonder why I don't read it more often.

Reading a book entirely in poetry would be hard for me.
Walk Two Moons is one of my all-time favorite MG books. I used to teach in to my high-level third grade readers.

One of my very favorite authors. I think most people think of her WALK TWO MOONS, which is wonderful and worthy of all its praise, but CHASING REDBIRD I think is one that doesn't get as much attention as it should. It's a beautiful book.
I'm a kid at heart too. I'll have to try her book and see if I like it. ;)
